The food is amazing and reminds me of when I was stationed in Korea. The restaurant has moved and the new building is nicer.

They are in a new location!! 8733 Cooper Rd, Alexandria, VA 22309 Kimchi house has been my go-to for Korean food for over 12 years. The owner is absolutely the sweetest, and the food is always fresh and delicious! Family owned and run, she takes your order, cooks, and visits with you! For those who judged a book by it's cover in the old location, that was your loss! It just left more Haemul Pajeon, Tangsuyuk, and Bimibop for me! I was able to visit at the tail end of June before the closing of her original location. She was in that building for over 20 years and all of the murals inside had been hand-painted by a dear friend of hers who passed away . You felt like you were walking straight into Korea when you stepped through the doors ! Unfortunately , as a family run business with just her and her son to work , the outside of the old location fell into disrepair. She was dealing with a family crisis, giving people the impression she was closed or that the food wouldn't be any good. How wrong they are! Please please please give them a try, you won't be disappointed! New address: 8733 Cooper Rd, Alexandria, VA 22309 When you're done you can go to the winery next door and grab a wine slushie to go!

Look past the overgrown front. With the widening of route one, they will be closing at the end of June, and reopening in the former Momo and Poke Hawaiian restaurant down on Cooper Road. We look forward to going back! It is really superb, homemade Korean food.

It was great. Don't judge a book by its cover is the perfect definition of this place. Food was great, and there was a steady Uber eats/doordash drivers who showed up while we were there. It is definitely a IYKYK type of place. Will definitely go again.

Like others have said, don't let the exterior steer you away from this place! Three of us came to eat here and we were the only customers there at the moment. Some reviews are bothered by the interior as well but there was nothing about the interior that bothered us or gave us any issues. We were greeted and served by an older Korean woman and it seemed like she was the only person there since we had seen her making our food as well. We didn't mind waiting for our food at all and when it did arrive, everything tasted amazing. We had ordered kimbap, fried dumplings, bibimbop, kimchi & tofu stew, and soju and everything tasted like a home-cooked meal. Definitely recommend if you're craving cozy, home-cooked style Korean food!

Saw some negative reviews about this place but I was going anyway, and I'm glad I did. From the outside it looks beat up and dark, and to be honest it is a little beat up looking inside as well but I don't care, the food was excellent, my rice cakes were cooked perfectly and just the right amount of spice. Dumplings were crispy and delicious and the chef/ owner use very friendly and charming. Don't let the looks fool you, this is a hidden gem
